Two residents of Chocowinity in Beaufort County are facing serious charges after investigators discovered horses in dire condition on a property along U.S. Highway 17 South.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Igor Palyvoda and Jaime Blair Palyvoda have each been charged with two counts of felony animal cruelty following the discovery.
What Deputies Found
According to the sheriff’s office, Beaufort County Animal Services deputies responded to the property and located horses that were in extremely poor physical condition.
Officials described the animals as severely underweight and suffering from significant medical issues that had clearly gone unaddressed for some time.

Bond amounts were set differently for each defendant; Igor Palyvoda was given a $3,000 secured bond, while Jaime Palyvoda received a $3,000 unsecured bond. The case will now move through the court system, where prosecutors will need to prove the felony animal cruelty charges.
