About Us

We Serve — It’s More Than a Motto

The Beaufort Lions Club is made up of local citizens who take our motto, WE SERVE, seriously. Our members come from diverse backgrounds and experiences — from our youngest members to our young-at-heart — and we all work together to serve others, right here in Beaufort County, across South Carolina, and around the world.

Our primary mission is helping the blind and visually impaired, but our service doesn’t stop there. We contribute to and partner with many other organizations to strengthen our community wherever there’s a need.

Part of Something Bigger

We’re proud to be part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service club organization. Since the first Lions Club was founded in Chicago in 1917, Lionism has grown to more than 43,000 clubs with over 1.4 million members in 180 countries — millions of people united by a simple idea: communities are better when people serve them.

A South Carolina Tradition

Lionism came to South Carolina in April 1922, when the first club was chartered in Columbia. Today, South Carolina is home to 130 clubs and more than 6,000 members serving their communities across the state.

Serving Beaufort Since 1946

The Beaufort Lions Club was chartered in 1946, and for nearly 80 years we’ve been proudly serving the Beaufort community. Generation after generation, our members have carried the tradition forward — and we’re still going strong.
