Water Festival Parade Wraps Up in Beaufort with Help from Highway Patrol

Posted on July 27, 2026 by BeaufortLionsClub Staff

Beaufort, SC — The Beaufort Police Department joined the community once again this year for the annual Water Festival Parade, marking another successful celebration for the City of Beaufort.

Officers took to the streets alongside residents and visitors for a day filled with music, laughter, and, as tradition dictates, plenty of water.

A Sweet Strategy Against Water Balloons

In a lighthearted post shared after the event, the department admitted to using a bit of strategy to stay dry during the festivities. Officers said they handed out lollipops to some of the kids along the parade route in hopes of avoiding a soaking from squirt guns and water balloons.

The department was quick to note the tactic did not work every single time, but joked that it definitely improved their odds of staying dry.

The playful admission drew smiles from community members who follow the department’s social media page, where local law enforcement often shares light moments alongside more serious public safety updates.

Moments like these have become part of what makes Beaufort’s Water Festival Parade a highlight for both police and residents each year, offering a chance for officers to connect with the community outside of typical daily duties.

Highway Patrol Partnership Helps Keep Parade Safe

Beyond the fun and games, the Beaufort Police Department also took time to recognize the South Carolina Highway Patrol for their assistance throughout the parade.

The department expressed appreciation for the partnership, noting that the extra support played an important role in helping the event run smoothly and safely for everyone in attendance.

Parades of this size require coordinated traffic control, crowd management, and safety planning, and the collaboration between local police and state troopers has become a key part of making sure the Water Festival celebration goes off without a hitch.

Community events like this often rely on multiple agencies working together, and Beaufort Police made sure to highlight that teamwork in their message to the public.

The department closed out its post with a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate. They expressed hope that all who attended had a safe, fun, and memorable time, and thanked the City of Beaufort for once again showing up to support one of the region’s most anticipated annual traditions.

The Beaufort Water Festival has long been a staple event for the Lowcountry, drawing crowds from across the area for a mix of parades, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities. Local police involvement, both in maintaining safety and joining in on the fun, continues to be a well-received part of the celebration each year.

As the festival wraps up for another season, the Beaufort Police Department’s message reflected a familiar sentiment among local law enforcement agencies: pride in serving the community and gratitude for the partnerships that help make large-scale public events possible.
